How this generator works
There's no AI behind this tool, and that's deliberate. It builds each statement from sentence structures like "to [do something] for [someone] by [some method]", filled in with an industry word bank plus whatever you type. Every click of Generate produces several different options at once.
Mission vs. vision: what's the difference
A mission statement describes the present: what your business does, for whom, and how, true enough today that a new hire could read it and understand their job. A vision statement describes the future you're working toward. Quick test: doable by lunchtime means it's a task, not either one.
How to write a mission statement that isn't generic
The fastest way to sound like every other company is to lean on abstract nouns like "excellence" with nothing concrete behind them. The fix is specificity: name the actual audience, like "busy families" instead of "customers", and the actual method. Keep it short enough to say from memory.
Real mission statements from companies you know
Reading how real companies phrase their mission is one of the fastest ways to calibrate your own. The examples below are quoted verbatim from each company's own site, so notice how short most of them are and how few adjectives they lean on. Plain and specific beats grand-sounding words.
Frequently asked questions
Is this mission statement generator really free?
Yes, free, unlimited, no sign-up or email gate. It runs entirely in your browser, so nothing you type is stored or sent anywhere.
Does this use AI?
No. Statements come from curated sentence templates and industry word banks, not a language model: predictable, private, unlimited.
What's the actual difference between a mission and a vision statement?
A mission describes what your business does today. A vision describes the future you're working toward if that mission succeeds.
Can I edit the generated statement?
Yes, and you should. Treat each candidate as a first draft, copy the shape you like, then swap in the specific words that matter to you.
What if none of the options fit my business?
Fill in "who you serve" and "what you do" with your own words instead of the defaults: that changes every candidate. Try different values too.
What should I do with my mission statement once I have one?
Put it somewhere it gets read: your About page, your deck's opening slide, or the vision line of your one-page business plan.
