What the slogan checker looks at
Type your slogan and, if you like, a line on what the business does. The checker scores four things: is it short and clear, with no jargon; does it say what the customer gets, in concrete words; does it stand apart from the stock phrases every competitor uses; and does it have rhythm, the kind of line that sounds good said aloud and sticks.
Every line in the checklist is a yes/no check, and the score updates as you type, so you can try a variant and watch which checks turn green.
Say what the customer gets
A slogan that describes the company ("Family-owned since 1987") tells customers about you. One that names their gain ("Get your evenings back") tells them why to care. The strongest taglines make the benefit concrete enough to picture: "Fresh bread before your alarm goes off" beats "Freshness delivered" because you can see it.
Clichés make you invisible
"Quality you can trust", "Your one-stop shop", "Innovative solutions for a better tomorrow": these feel safe because everyone uses them, and that is exactly the problem. If a competitor in a different industry could put your slogan under their logo, it isn't doing any work. The checker flags stock phrases and buzzwords like synergy, leverage and world-class.
How to use it
Write three or four versions and check each one. Fix the failing checks one at a time, starting with the benefit: a short, catchy line that promises nothing is still weak. Read your best version out loud; if it's hard to say, it's hard to remember.
When you're stuck, "Rewrite my slogan" suggests a version that passes the failing checks and shows the before and after scores.
Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between a slogan and a tagline?
In practice, little. A tagline usually sits under your name or logo for years; a slogan is often tied to a campaign. Both need the same things: short, clear, a benefit, and a line no competitor could also use, so the checker scores them the same way.
How long should a slogan be?
About eight words or fewer. Most memorable taglines are three to six words. Longer lines turn into a description, which belongs on your website, not under your logo.
What counts as a good score?
70 and up is strong: short, clear, benefit-led and distinct. 40–69 usually means it's clear but generic, or says nothing the customer gets. Under 40 means it reads like jargon or a paragraph.
How is the score calculated?
Each check is a yes/no question answered by an AI scoring model with a probability. Checks are averaged into four dimensions of equal weight: short and clear, says the benefit, stands apart, and rhythm.
Why doesn't a famous slogan score higher?
Famous slogans like "Think small." work because of years of ads around them. On its own, a two-word line rarely says what the customer gets. A new business doesn't have that budget, so the checker scores the line as a stranger would read it.
Do you store the slogans I check?
No. Your slogan and description are sent to our AI providers (Anthropic and TypeSafe) to score them; we don't save them. Free, no sign-up.
