What this calculator covers

Pick how you were paid: Checkout or Venmo, a standard card, Pay Later, an in-person QR code, or the optional micropayments rate for small sales. Type in the amount and the fee and net payout appear right away. Flip to "I want to receive this" to solve backward for the price to charge.

Why PayPal's rate varies by how you got paid

Checkout and Venmo carry the highest rate, 3.49% + 49¢, since PayPal absorbs more buyer-protection risk on a one-click payment. A card entered directly runs lower at 2.99% + 49¢. Pay Later costs most, 4.99% + 49¢, for extending buyer credit. Micropayments, 4.99% + 9¢, trades percentage for a smaller flat fee below about $10.

Worked example

A $50 sale through PayPal Checkout costs 3.49% ($1.75) plus 49¢, so $2.24 total, leaving you $47.76. Take that same $50 as a standard card payment instead and the fee drops to 2.99% + 49¢ ($1.99), netting $48.01, 25 cents more just from picking card over Checkout at checkout.

A note on scope and what's not here

PayPal updates its fee page on its own schedule, sometimes more than once a year, so the badge above shows the date these rates were last checked. This tool covers PayPal's five highest-volume commercial rates, not nonprofit or marketplace pricing, currency-conversion spread, or Instant Transfer minimums.
