Good to know

What the checker scores

Your listing gets one 0–100 score built from twelve yes/no checks in five groups: benefits over features, concrete detail, answers to buyer questions, how easy it is to scan, and whether it fits the platform you sell on. Every check is a line on the checklist, so a low score always comes with the exact thing to fix.

How to use it

Paste the product title and the description exactly as shoppers see it, then pick where it sells: your own Shopify store, Amazon or Etsy. The score updates as you edit, so you can fix one failing line, watch it turn green, and move to the next. If you'd rather start from a draft, "Fix it for me" rewrites the listing to pass the checks it fails and shows the new score next to the old one.

Benefits first, then the facts that back them

"Premium stainless steel" is a feature. "Still ice-cold at the end of a hot afternoon" is what the buyer actually wants. The checker looks for a description that names a specific result for a specific kind of buyer, then ties at least one feature to why it matters, and that also gives the hard facts: size, materials, capacity, what's in the box. Generic praise like "high quality" or "you'll love it" doesn't count as either.

Answer the question that stops the purchase

Shoppers can't pick the product up, so every unanswered question is a reason to leave: will it fit, how do I care for it, does it work with what I have, why this one and not the cheaper one. Two checks look for a practical answer and for a likely doubt handled head-on.

Platform rules: Shopify, Amazon and Etsy

The same product reads differently on each marketplace. Amazon's listing rules don't allow promotional or time-sensitive claims like "sale", "free shipping" or "best seller", prices, links or seller contact details in the copy. Etsy shoppers look for what an item is made of, how it's made, its size, and personalisation or processing time. On your own store you have room for brand voice, but it still has to skim well on a phone. Pick the platform and the last check judges the listing against its norms.

Frequently asked questions

What makes a good product description?

One that leads with what the buyer gets, backs it with concrete facts (size, materials, specs), answers the questions a shopper would ask in a store, is laid out in short paragraphs or bullets, and avoids hype it can't prove. A score of 70 or more means most of those are in place.

How long should a product description be?

Long enough to answer a buyer's real questions and no longer. A simple product can do it in a few lines; a technical or expensive one needs more. The checker doesn't count words. It checks whether the description covers benefits, facts and objections and stays easy to scan.

Why does the score change when I switch Shopify, Amazon or Etsy?

One check judges the listing against the selling platform's norms. A line like "Limited time sale, free shipping!" can be fine in a store banner but breaks Amazon's listing rules, and an Etsy listing without materials or dimensions leaves out what Etsy shoppers look for.

Does it check SEO keywords?

No. It checks whether the copy would persuade the shopper who lands on the page, which is what turns traffic into sales. A clear title that says what the product is, with its key attribute, does help search, and that is one of the checks.

What does "Fix it for me" change?

It rewrites the title and description to pass the checks they fail, keeps your product facts and voice, and never invents measurements, materials or claims. Where a fact is missing it leaves a placeholder like [size] for you to fill in.

Do you store the descriptions I check?

No. Your text is sent to our AI providers (Anthropic and TypeSafe) to score it; we don't save it. Free, no sign-up.
